One thing people often overlook when deciding to begin a series of body contouring sessions is the commitment required to achieve maximum results. After all, achieving results is the main reason for undergoing body contouring in the first place, right?
Ready to maximize your body contouring results? Let's dive into the best practices for frequency and maintenance between sessions!
In this post, I'll discuss who the right candidate is, what is expected of you between sessions, and what the schedule looks like whether you are doing sessions once a week or three times a week.
Let's start with frequency; the first table below shows what it will look like if you are doing multiple sessions in a week. The second table shows what your schedule will be if you are only able to come one day a week.
Picture 1 (left) is Ultrasonic Cavitation. In the table below it is represented by UC. Picture 2 (middle) is Vacuum Therapy, and it is represented as VT in the table below.
Picture 3 (right) is radiofrequency, and it is represented as FR in the table below

Now that you have an idea about what the schedules look like, let's talk about things you can do to maximize your results before, after, and in-between your sessions.
Let's start with before you begin your sessions. The first thing to remember is that these sessions are not done in place of a weight loss plan, but rather in conjunction with such a plan. You should already be eating healthy, getting regular exercise, and on your way to your weight loss goals. Here are a few very important things to remember:

Sunburn can make your skin much more sensitive and therefore much less receptive to treatment. Do yourself a favor, and if you have to be out in the sun in the days leading up to your treatment, be sure to protect the area you want to work on during your session.

Please remember that if the area you want to treat has a significant amount of hair, please make sure to shave before you come in for your appointment. The more hair you have in the area, the less contact the device will have with your skin which will minimize your results.

Make sure you increase your water intake a few days before your appointment. Staying properly hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment can help with the effectiveness of the body contouring procedure.

Both alcohol and caffeine can cause dehydration, which is the exact opposite of what you want to do to yourself before these treatments. Dehydration can have a negative impact on your results, so it's best to avoid them both for at least 24-48 hours before and after your treatments.

Avoid eating at least 2 hours before coming in for your treatment. In the days leading up to your treatment try to avoid binge eating, eating unhealthy snacks, and try to limit salt intake as much as possible.

Remember that body contouring treatments are not a substitute for weight loss. They are used to target localized areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. They can also be used to help tighten localized areas of loose skin.
Now that we have gone over pre-treatment, let's talk about what to do after your treatment!
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! And then when you think you've hydrated enough - hydrate some more! Staying properly hydrated is essential in the recovery process and necessary to help your body eliminate waste products created during the ultrasonic cavitation treatment.
Use products that are gentile on the skin. Avoid using soaps and lotions that contain harsh chemicals or that are otherwise harsh on the skin.
Continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Continue to eat healthy nourishing foods and remember to exercise regularly in order to maintain your results long-term. Avoid intense workouts immediately after your session. Remember that something as simple as walking for 10 minutes can help move lymphatic fluid and help with lymphatic drainage. Movement and gentile exercise will help aid in the detoxification process and enhance your results.
Avoid excessive heat. Avoid direct sun exposure or excessively hot environments. This causes inflammation and can disrupt your recovery.
Rest is important! Right after your session it is important that you give your body time to rest and begin the detoxification process. While it's okay to exercise after your treatment, remember to take it easy. If you work out regularly, be sure to adjust your workout schedule so that you are not stressing your body right after your treatments.
Avoid deep tissue massages while you are coming in for treatments. After you finish your series of body contouring sessions, and you have given your body enough time to recover, you can go back to getting your deep tissue massages.
Remember that everyone is different, and recovery time will vary from person to person. If you are unsure about when you can resume deep tissue massages, just let me know and I will help you determine when the best time would be for you to start again.
Avoid alcohol for a period of time after your treatments. I'm not trying to stop you from having a good time, but I want to ensure you're getting the best possible results. from your body contouring sessions. The reason I tell you to avoid alcohol is because it reduces your body's ability to detox and get rid of all the debris created during ultrasonic cavitation. You don't want all your hard work and money to go down the drain over a few drinks. The time will come to party and have a good time, but it's just not right now.
Wear loose and comfy clothing. Yes, loose clothing -not skims or a faja. So many times, people are told to wear tight clothing while undergoing body contouring sessions, but a faja is made to be worn after surgery to help with the recovery process of surgery. You are coming in for non-invasive body contouring not a tummy tuck or lipo. There is no swelling with what you are doing, so you do not need to wear garments made to help control swelling. You are trying to detox and get lymphatic fluid moving so that it can push all of the debris and waste out of your body. Tight restrictive clothing is going to do the exact opposite and can actually hinder your results.
Make sure you attend all of your body contouring/lymphatic drainage sessions! If you want to achieve optimal results, it's imperative that you come to all of your sessions. Each session is going to get you one step closer to your goal, and the results from each session are cumulative. Ideally you want to come in for 12 sessions over a 4–5-week period. I have found that this number of sessions gets great results for clients and allows you to get a healthy and beautiful body safely and naturally.
Non-invasive body contouring can be an amazing service and can give you a happier and healthier version of you. It's important to remember that while you and I are working together to give you the best version of your physical self, that is not the only goal of this process. The detox that comes along with the body contouring process will also boost your energy and improve your overall health and well-being. It's very important that you adopt a healthy lifestyle so you can get the absolute best results from your treatments. Following the pre and post session directions will not only give you a great body that will boost your confidence, but you will also benefit from an improvement in your mood, boost in your energy, and an overall feeling of being healthy - both inside and out!
